Casey and Shelley are green turtles, which are one of seven species of turtles found in the world’s oceans. They are so named because of the colour of their flesh, which is green due to their diet of mainly sea grass and algae.

Turtles are air-breathing reptiles that must surface every 20 minutes or so to breathe.

Green turtles may live for over 70 years and don’t reach sexual maturity until around 25 years. Females don’t mate every season. The female builds a nest on shore where she lays about 120 eggs. She does this five times in one season. Only one in 10,000 turtles hatched will survive to adulthood.

The high natural mortality rates, combined with heavy human impacts, are slowly wiping turtle populations out.

Shelley is the oldest sister of two Children in her family. Shelley is quite responsible but sometimes can get into a little strife cause she likes to do what all young ones like to do. She likes to play with her friends and have fun.

Shelley likes her little brother and plays with him all the time, but sometimes she likes to go and play with her friends without her little brother tagging along.
Most of the time she will happily play lots of different games with her little brother for hours.
She will do anything to protect him, after all he is her little brother, and they need to stick together.

Shelley can sometimes get very emotional and can react without thinking. Especially if her little brother is involved.
She is a very good natured Turtle and her heart is mostly in the right place. But like all children she sometimes does the wrong thing. However Shelley knows when she has done the wrong thing and she will try to make amends.
Shelley is generally the one too lead her and her brother into trouble.


Casey is the younger of the two children in his family. He is a good boy but is easily led astray. He is only young and looks up to his big sister for help and advice. He loves her very much and will follow her anywhere and does whatever she says.
He is not very confident but he can be a brave little turtle. He will eventually stand up for in what he believes and even though he is younger and smaller he can sometimes teach his sister a thing or to.

Casey likes to follow his big sister everywhere cause he feels safe with her, but he knows that sometimes she doesn't like him around.
Casey is a very good natured kid and he knows what is right and wrong, but he will do whatever his sister says and follows her lead. After all she is the oldest. Casey would do anything for his sister and will try to protect her if she gets into trouble.

They are both very competitive and try to beat each other, even though Casey is not as strong as his sister is is also very competitive. He likes to try and beat his sister to get her respect.
